Accounting can be defined as being the measurement, disclosure, or provision of assurance about financial information that helps managers, investors, tax authorities and others make decisions about allocating resources. There is a wide range of duties and responsibilities in the accountancy career depending on your interests and specialization. Please ensure that the program that you’re interested in is accredited by a recognized institution in Mauritius. You must have completed your HSC (or the equivalent) in order to pursue a degree in Accountancy or Finance, and it takes between 3-5 years to complete a first degree.
If you are intending to work in Mauritius after graduation, remember to visit the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA: http://mipa.mu/) for more information on certification and registration.
